The “Dead Theologians” is a Sunday School Class at First Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro, TN ~ whose members enjoy lively discussion on a wide variety of subjects, more or less related to (but not always) the main topic at hand. This blog is created to invite sustained participation from class members through the week, not only to facilitate the contribution of fresh ideas for theological dialogue, but also as a means of offering support and encouragement to one another from a Christ-centered perspective. Anyone wishing to join this blog is welcome. Though attendance at the 9:30 AM (CST) weekly Sunday gathering is not mandatory, you are encouraged to experience the joy of this unique Christian fellowship first-hand and often.
I felt the comments as to our individual picture of God were very diverse and meaningful. The scripture in Deuteronomy 4:23 states we should not make images of God because of the pagan practices of worshiping images. Also there are many references that say we are made in the image of God. In Revelation 4 scripture talks about the vision of God sitting on his throne and the colors of the light from the throne are white, red and green. The fact that we can not comprehend because we are only human tells me our expectation is not important but our belief that he loves us and wants us to open to door to our heart and let him inside.
